murphy-acquisitions-logoWhen John Murphy, President and founder of Murphy Acquisitions, decided to switch to Central Texas Technology Solutions to manage their IT services, that decision was vital in the continuation of their business.

A research and sales organization specializing in the Beechcraft Super King Air aircraft, Murphy Acquisitions relies heavily on a custom fleet database to keep track of each aircraft and every instance of modification and equipment in relation to that aircraft’s history.

Since its foundation in 1999, Murphy Acquisitions has developed a proud reputation for their knowledgeable, trustworthy and detail oriented services, and thus required a company with the same standards to manage their information technology.

CTTS assessed their network and recommended solutions that would allow John to securely and confidently run his business.  Included in the recommendations were a new Dell PowerEdge Server, Meraki security and wireless appliances, as well as a Datto Business Continuity Solution appliance.

On a rainy Monday morning at 8:30 AM, our services were put to the test.  A power outage occurred and the server did not shut down properly, causing Windows to become corrupted and potentially lead to a huge data loss.  However, within minutes, John was able to operate as usual with access to all of his data and resources.  The Murphy Acquisition staff was able to continue working!

Behind the scenes, our skillful Senior Network Engineer, Kurt Rinear, was able to restore data from 8:00 that morning, a point just 30 minutes prior to the power outage. Datto’s state-of-the-art technology protected Murphy Acquisitions from downtime and lost revenue.  In this circumstance, the estimated downtime without Datto’s image based backup would have been 8 hours or more!

Traditional data recovery solutions only capture data, but Datto’s image-based backup captures a picture of the entire workstation or server and stores it as a unique point in time.  Datto allows for businesses to rebuild or virtualize a machine due to damage or disaster by quickly restoring all the files, applications, and operating systems.

Kurt was then able to boot up their server as a virtual machine that very morning, allowing the Murphy Acquisition staff to continue working without skipping a beat.  Without interrupting any work flow, Kurt was onsite the next day saving their updated files and making a quick backup of their virtual server. He then restored the updated image to their physical server, and Murphy Acquisitions was operating just as they had been before the power outage.

Murphy Acquisition’s sudden power loss and data restore was not just a backup and disaster recovery issue, it’s a part of a business continuity management plan that we at CTTS are proud of; something we are always ready for and quick to implement.
